Acon Digital Restoration Suite 2

The Acon Digital Restoration Suite 2 is a conceptual, comprehensive software collection engineered to serve as the definitive toolset for audio restoration, archival, and post-production. Moving far beyond the basic filtering capabilities found in standard editing software, this suite utilizes advanced spectral processing and adaptive noise reduction algorithms to surgically remove common audio flaws—hum, hiss, clicks, pops, and broadband noise—while maintaining the original source material's tonal integrity, transients, and clarity. It is the indispensable application for audio archivists, mastering engineers, and sound designers tackling challenging historical recordings or flawed digital transfers.

Surgical Time-Domain Repair

The suite includes modules dedicated to repairing transient, time-domain flaws that are impossible to fix with frequency-based tools:

  • DeClick (Click, Pop, and Crackle Removal): The DeClick module is the solution for impulse noise caused by vinyl records, tape dropouts, or digital errors. It employs a predictive signal interpolation algorithm. It analyzes the waveform, identifies the sharp, non-musical signature of the click or pop, and then seamlessly rebuilds the missing audio segment by synthesizing the signal from the clean data immediately surrounding the artifact. This preserves the transient punch of drums and percussion while eliminating the distracting noise.

  • DeClip (Overload Restoration): This module is designed to restore audio damaged by analog or digital clipping (distortion caused by signals exceeding the maximum recording level). DeClip reconstructs the clipped, flattened waveform peaks by smoothly interpolating the distorted area based on the signal's harmonics and surrounding intact data, effectively reducing harsh digital distortion and restoring perceived dynamic range.

Integrated Workflow

The Acon Digital Restoration Suite 2 is designed for serial use, where the output of one module (e.g., DeHum) feeds into the next (e.g., DeNoise), providing a powerful, cascading path toward audio recovery and pristine fidelity.

Type: AU, VST, VST3.
OS: macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or later.
Processor: Apple Silicon (M1-M4) and newer or Intel Core (64-bit).
RAM: 4/8 GB.
Free disk space: 249 MB.
Recommended DAWs: Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper, WaveLab, Adobe Audition.

Kit components:

• DeNoise 2: Plugin for suppressing stationary noise such as hiss, wind noise, buzz and camera noise. Supports two operating modes: adaptive mode (automatic suppression) and noise profile mode (based on noise profile analysis). Supports Mid/Side (M/S) processing to minimize unwanted fluctuations in the stereo image.
• DeHum 2: Eliminates hum and buzz caused by poorly grounded equipment or other tonal noise sources such as electrical motor noise. Includes a Scan button for automatically tuning to the fundamental noise frequency.
• DeClick 2: Removes impulse noise such as clicks, crackles, thumps and plosives (explosive sounds in vocals). Effective for restoring records from LPs, 78 RPM or digital recordings with damaged data.
• DeClip 2: Restores audio distorted by analog or digital clipping using an algorithm to reconstruct lost signal peaks.

Installation and activation instructions are included in the package (inside).
