Plot: Madness and Survivor’s Guilt

The game's narrative begins several years after the events of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. When Alice Liddell was just a child, a devastating house fire killed her entire family, leaving her the sole survivor. Deeply traumatized and crippled by survivor's guilt, Alice retreats into a catatonic state and is committed to Rutledge Asylum in London, where her condition deteriorates for nearly a decade.

Alice mentally returns to Wonderland, only to find that her personal torment has corrupted the realm into a twisted reflection of her fractured psyche. The Mad Hatter is a sadistic surgeon, the Queen of Hearts is a tyrannical brute, and the world is populated by monstrous versions of familiar characters. Guided by the gaunt and cynical Cheshire Cat, Alice embarks on a dark quest to save Wonderland, believing that by doing so, she can restore her own sanity.

Gameplay: Platforming and "Toys" as Weapons

The gameplay primarily consists of third-person platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat across a linear but visually diverse series of domains, each representing a different aspect of her mental breakdown.

• Weapons (Toys): Alice's arsenal consists of ten unusual weapons, referred to as "toys," that she acquires throughout her journey. Her signature weapon is the Vorpal Blade (a bloody butcher knife), but she also utilizes items like the Cards (which act as shurikens), the Croquet Mallet, and the Jackbomb (a horrifying jack-in-the-box).

• Meta-Essence: Combat and special abilities are fueled by Willpower (the game's mana equivalent), which is restored by collecting crystals of Meta-Essence and Meta-Substance (the life force and power of imagination of Wonderland).

• Thematic Levels: Alice travels through twisted versions of classic locations, such as the Vale of Tears (representing her deep sadness), the Mad Hatter's Domain (a factory of cruel experiments), and the Jabberwock's Eyrie (where she confronts her guilt).

The journey culminates in a final confrontation with the Queen of Hearts, whom Alice realizes is the ultimate manifestation of her own madness and repressed pain. By defeating the Queen, Alice symbolically conquers her trauma, restoring Wonderland's integrity and achieving a tentative recovery, allowing her to leave the asylum.
