Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II returns as a fast-paced hack-and-slash adventure set in the legendary Forgotten Realms universe. Much like the first game, it draws inspiration from tabletop role-playing and drops players into a medieval fantasy world filled with monsters, magic, and sprawling dungeons. This chapter of the story unfolds in and around the bustling city of Baldur’s Gate, but the sequel expands nearly every aspect of the original formula. The main campaign now spans around 80 areas, and finishing it unlocks a brutal Extreme difficulty. Exploration offers more freedom, optional quests appear far more frequently, and many locations are larger, allowing players to revisit them with new strategies. New crafting mechanics also join the mix: a gem and upgrade system that lets players tailor weapons, armor, and accessories to their preferred playstyle. Character development also feels deeper—class-based quests now grant access to additional skills and talents.

Although this is not the original 2004 release, the modern version serves as a remastered upgrade. Originally exclusive to consoles, the revived edition finally makes its way to PC with sharper visuals, updated textures, 4K support, controller compatibility, revamped abilities, and newly added achievements. Local two-player co-op also returns, letting friends share the experience on a single machine. The story continues directly after the ending of the first Dark Alliance: the previous group of heroes disappeared after confronting the vampire Mordoc Selanmere in the Onyx Tower, prompting a fresh squad of adventurers to investigate a string of gruesome murders connected to his dark plans.

Players can choose from five completely different heroes, each offering their own class, combat style, and progression path:

• Ysuran Auondril – a moon elf necromancer who summons undead allies and spreads debilitating diseases.
• Dorn Redbear – a swift and ferocious human barbarian known for explosive, berserker-style attacks.
• Vhaidra Uowiir – a disciplined dark elf monk who excels in hand-to-hand combat and dual-weapon techniques.
• Allesia Faithhammer – a devoted human cleric wielding divine magic for both offense and support.
• Borador “Goldhand” – a cunning dwarven rogue who favors bombs, traps, and his deadly crossbow.
