Monster Prom 3: Monster Roadtrip is the third installment in the popular multiplayer visual novel series developed by Beautiful Glitch. Unlike its predecessors, which focused exclusively on achieving a date before prom or summer camp ended, Monster Roadtrip introduces a strategic twist by blending the signature absurd humor and character writing with co-op survival mechanics.

Premise: The Road to an Epic Destination

The game shifts the setting from Spooky High to the open road. The player, along with up to three friends (via local or online co-op), embarks on a disastrous, winding road trip hosted by fan-favorite chaos monsters, Polly Geist and Scott Howl.

The primary goal is survival and reaching one of six dreamy destinations—such as Knifeland, Merkingdom, or Cryptid Prom—by managing essential resources. While dating is still an option, it is secondary to the immediate need to stay alive and keep the road trip going.

Gameplay: Resource Management and Choices

Monster Roadtrip utilizes a co-op narrative structure that emphasizes strategic decision-making over pure stat-grinding:

• Road Trip Resources: The game introduces six core stats: Hype, Stamina, Mind, Soul, Money, and Magic. Players start with a base value for each. If any resource hits zero, the road trip ends immediately in failure.

• The Map and Events: In each round, the group chooses one of two randomly selected locations to visit. At each location, players face a scenario and must choose an option that affects the shared group resources.

• Choice Mechanics: The choices are tactical. A choice may guarantee a loss in one resource (e.g., losing Money by fixing a tire) but offer a chance to gain another (e.g., gaining Soul from a rewarding conversation). Success requires constant discussion and negotiation with co-op partners to balance individual desires against the group’s survival needs.

• Rest Stops: After several rounds, the group hits a rest stop, where players can choose to engage in private conversations with the main co-hosts or with one of the many hitchhikers they've picked up, or trade resources.

 Dating and Destinations

The game still features its beloved dating elements:

• Romance Targets: While Polly and Scott are the main co-hosts, there are over 10 available hitchhikers to pursue, including both new characters and returning ones (like Vicky and Brian).

• Date Requirements: To achieve a date ending, a player must successfully complete a few conversation requirements with their chosen monster before the group reaches one of the main destinations.

• Layered Endings: Successfully reaching a destination by maxing out the associated resource (e.g., maxing out Hype for the Music Festival) unlocks a base ending. Completing the dating requirements or specific plotline requirements unlocks further, deeper layers to that destination's ending.

With its blend of classic Monster Prom humor and the added tension of resource management, Monster Roadtrip provides a fresh, social, and challenging twist on the beloved franchise.
