The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters

The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters is a 2D side-scrolling survival horror game developed by Devespresso Games and released in 2020. As a direct sequel to The Coma: Recut, the game transports players back into the chilling, shadow-drenched reality of a nightmarish Korean high school, expanding the terror into the surrounding district of Sehwa. It maintains the distinctive Korean comic book (manhwa) art style and tense, non-combat gameplay of its predecessor.

 The Nightmare Returns

The story centers on Mina Park, a cheerful student from the original game's setting, Sehwa High. After a horrific event, Mina awakens in the "Coma"—a dark, alternate dimension mirroring her reality but twisted by malevolent supernatural forces. She must navigate her familiar town, now populated by grotesque creatures and haunted by her school's most dangerous demon, the relentless Vicious Sister.

The narrative deepens the lore of the Coma universe, exploring the corrupted history of Sehwa and the tragic origins of the terrifying entities that stalk its shadows. The game uses a mix of static art, detailed character portraits, and smooth, fluid animations to convey its disturbing atmosphere.

 Survival Horror and Evasion

The core gameplay is centered entirely on evasion, stealth, and resource management, as Mina is utterly defenseless against the Vicious Sister and most other entities.

• Evasion: The Vicious Sister (and later, other sub-bosses) patrol the halls. When sighted, the player must run, but continuous sprinting leads to Mina losing stamina and coughing, which alerts the Sister to her location.

• Hiding: Survival often depends on finding hiding spots—lockers, cubicles, or dark corners—and holding your breath until the threat passes. Hiding is tense, as a poorly timed exit can lead to instant death.

• Traps and Tools: Mina must solve environmental puzzles and use specific items (like lighters, bandages, or tools) found within the environment. She can also utilize nearby lights or objects to temporarily stun or distract her pursuers.

• Inventory Management: Inventory space is limited. Players must carefully decide which essential healing items or key quest items to carry, adding another layer of tension to exploration.

 The Expanding World

Unlike the first game, which was primarily confined to the school, The Coma 2 expands to the entire Sehwa district, including the police station, a hospital, and the local market. This provides a greater sense of scale and variety in the environmental puzzles and enemy encounters.

The game features multiple endings, determined by the moral choices Mina makes throughout her journey, particularly regarding other survivors she encounters. This adds significant replay value to the desperate struggle to escape the Vicious Sister and the darkness consuming Sehwa.
