Scrivener is a powerful, non-linear writing and project management application developed by Literature & Latte. It is specifically designed for authors, screenwriters, academics, and anyone working on long, complex writing projects.

Unlike a traditional word processor (like Microsoft Word or Google Docs), which treats your document as one long page, Scrivener is built around the metaphor of a virtual 3-ring binder or a writing studio.

Scrivener's strength is its ability to break a large manuscript into small, manageable pieces and keep all your research and notes right alongside your draft.

• The Binder (The Outline): This sidebar organizes your project into folders, subfolders, and individual text documents (often representing chapters, scenes, or sections). You can easily drag and drop these pieces to restructure your entire manuscript instantly.

• The Corkboard: This feature visualizes your text documents as virtual index cards pinned to a corkboard. Each card displays a customizable synopsis of the document. This is an incredibly powerful tool for outlining, plotting, and rearranging the flow of a novel or script.

• The Outliner: A structured view that allows you to manage metadata, such as labels, status, word count, and custom fields for each section, making project tracking highly detailed.
