60 Parsecs!

60 Parsecs! is a dark comedy, science fiction survival adventure game developed by Robot Gentleman (the creators of 60 Seconds!). This game takes the resource management and survival mechanics of its predecessor and scales them up for a ridiculous journey across the cosmos, all within a unique atomic-era setting known as "Astro-Style."

Core Gameplay Mechanics

• Phase 1: The Dash (60 Seconds): This initial segment is a frantic, isometric resource grab. The player can only carry a few items at a time, forcing them to prioritize between vital life support (food, medical supplies) and essential equipment (tools, electronics). The selection of crew members is also vital, as each character brings unique skills and character quirks.

• Phase 2: Deep Space Survival: Once the shuttle is launched, the core gameplay shifts to a turn-based, text and management adventure. The player must manage two main groups of resources:

  • Supplies: Soup (food) and Materials (for crafting and repair) are consumed daily and during maintenance.

  • Crew Morale and Health: Each day brings new random events—mutiny, strange illnesses, alien encounters, and cosmic phenomena. The player must use their limited supplies and the unique skills of the crew to deal with these crises. Failure to manage health and sanity can lead to death, madness, or crew members abandoning ship.

• Exploration and Diplomacy: The ultimate goal is to find a habitable planet and establish a colony. To do this, players send crew members out on Expeditions. These expeditions are risky text adventures where the player’s choices—dictated by the items they scavenged and the skills of the explorer—determine whether they return with valuable materials, encounter friendly or hostile aliens, or are lost forever.

• Crafting and Maintenance: Resources found on expeditions or scavenged from the junk pile can be used to repair the shuttle or craft essential tools like communication arrays (to call for rescue) and better protective gear.

60 Parsecs! maintains a darkly comedic tone throughout, often forcing players to make ridiculous choices (e.g., trading their last can of soup for a rubber chicken) just to survive another day, making it a unique and replayable experience in cosmic horror and resource management.
