ATOM RPG: Trudograd

ATOM RPG: Trudograd is a standalone expansion and direct sequel to ATOM RPG, continuing the story of the post-apocalyptic Soviet wasteland in the tradition of classic isometric cRPGs like the original Fallout and Wasteland. Set 22 years after a devastating nuclear exchange between the USSR and the Western Bloc, the game transports the player from the rugged, expansive wastes to the massive, snowy metropolitan area of Trudograd.

Unlike the first game's free-roaming world map, Trudograd focuses its attention entirely on this single, colossal city and its immediate, icebound surroundings. The city is a marvel of post-apocalyptic architecture, having largely withstood the nuclear fire, but now dealing with the harsh realities of nuclear winter, social chaos, and internal political strife. This condensed setting allows for an incredible density of quests, characters, and lore.

The Looming Threat

The main narrative hook carries directly from ATOM RPG: the player, an agent of the ATOM organization, has learned of an existential threat to humanity—a massive asteroid on a collision course with Earth. Your mission is to travel to Trudograd, where humanity's last hope lies in an experimental pre-war weapon capable of shooting the celestial body out of the sky.

To gain access to this weapon, you must navigate the complex, often treacherous politics of the city, frequently choosing between supporting the remnants of the municipal police or joining the rebellious revolutionaries. Nearly every one of the 200+ quests offers multiple solutions, relying heavily on the player's character build and chosen skills like Speechcraft, Strength, or Technology to resolve issues non-violently or through force.

Refined Mechanics and Customization

Trudograd significantly refines and expands on the original’s mechanics. The turn-based combat remains focused on tactical, positional play, but the experience system is enhanced, with skills now able to reach up to 299, offering a greater sense of progression.

New additions include a vastly improved weapon modification and crafting system, allowing players to heavily customize their arsenal. Crucially, the game introduces Soviet-style powered exoskeleton armor suits that can be customized with 20+ mods, giving veteran characters powerful new tools. Furthermore, a unique and highly praised feature is the integration of fully voiced visual text quests, which present important narrative choices and skill checks in a compelling, illustrated "choose your own adventure" format.
