Cross The World is an ambitious, forthcoming adventure RPG and simulation game developed by Redbeehive Games, set to enter Early Access in mid-2025. It is designed to offer a unique fantasy world experience centered on persistent world simulation and tactical, party-based gameplay. The game challenges players to explore, gather, craft, fight, and survive in a massive, static world that continuously evolves regardless of the player's immediate location.

Persistent World Simulation

The distinguishing feature of Cross The World is its high level of simulation detail. The entire world, which is a massive 6006x4026 tile grid (over 48 million persistent tiles, including an underground level), runs constantly. This means:

  • Dynamic Ecology: Environmental factors like temperature, weather, darkness, and four distinct seasons actively affect the environment and gameplay. Fruits harvested from a tree will rot and disappear over time, and trees will change shape with the seasons and bear fruit again.

  • Active NPCs: Non-Player Characters (NPCs), including NPC adventurers and hunters, are fully simulated. They follow routines, travel across the map to visit friends or taverns, and can genuinely encounter danger from bandits or monsters, meaning the world changes and progresses organically, not just based on hard-coded events.

  • No Loading Screens: Switching between characters, even if they are far apart, is instantaneous because the entire world is always running in the background.

Party-Based Progression

At its core, Cross The World is a party-based Roguelike RPG. Players control a party of up to four characters, customizing them from a choice of three races and 28 classes. While it features the permadeath mechanic of a roguelike (which can be toggled off), it incorporates more traditional RPG elements:

  • Character Development: Progression comes through levels, experience from combat and quests, and the unlocking of active and passive skills.

  • Survival Mechanics: The UI and experience borrow from the open-world survival crafting genre, requiring players to actively chop wood, gather resources, craft tools, and cook meals to manage their party's survival needs.

The game also supports online co-op, where friends can join a host's game to collaboratively control the characters in the party, and it features an accessible level editor for creative mode exploration. The ultimate end-goal for players is to complete the quest progression and save the world from imminent threats.
