The story centers on a trio of novice paladins—Aliza, the blood-bending swashbuckler; Hael, the mace-swinging cleric; and Rollo, the anchor-waving tanker. These relic-wielding heroes are thrust into a political maelstrom following the current king's death. Various noble families and pretenders to the throne are vying for power, while mystical, eldritch forces manipulate events from the shadows.

• Ancestral Grace: A key combat mechanic is Ancestral Grace, a dark, ancient power channeled through the paladins' holy relics. While activating it can turn the tide of a battle with devastating blows, relying on this dark power has a negative narrative impact on the characters and the story progression, tying the combat mechanics directly to the overarching moral dilemma.
