Teardown is a unique sandbox-puzzle game developed by Tuxedo Labs that centers around an unparalleled level of environmental destruction. The entire world of the game is built from fully destructible voxels, allowing players to interact with, demolish, and completely reshape the environment in a stunningly realistic physics simulation. This core feature turns every level into a playground for chaotic creativity and strategic planning.

The Campaign: Planning the Perfect Heist

The game’s structure is built around a campaign that follows the owner of a financially struggling demolition company. Desperate for cash, the protagonist takes on increasingly dubious and illegal jobs, leading them down a murky path of insurance fraud, revenge, and criminal investigation. The story is told primarily through emails and takes place across nine expansive, intricate levels within the fictional Löckelle Municipality.

The majority of missions revolve around a brilliant two-phase system: Planning and Execution.

  1. Preparation Phase (Unlimited Time): The player is tasked with stealing or destroying multiple target objects, all of which are connected to a central security alarm. In this phase, the player has unlimited time to use their tools and vehicles to scout, create shortcuts, and meticulously set up the perfect escape route. This involves tearing down walls, stacking objects to create ramps, using explosives to blast tunnels, or even rerouting a large vehicle.

  2. Execution Phase (60-Second Timer): Once the player interacts with the first target object, the alarm triggers a tight 60-second countdown. The game instantly transforms from a thoughtful puzzle into a frantic, speedrunning platformer. The player must race along their pre-planned, demolished route, collecting every remaining objective before reaching the getaway vehicle and escaping before the timer hits zero.

Tools, Upgrades, and Physics

Players start with basic tools like a sledgehammer and a fire extinguisher, but quickly expand their arsenal with items like the blowtorch, shotgun, pipe bombs, and rocket launchers. These tools can be upgraded using money earned from stealing scattered valuables, improving their power or utility.

The impressive technology is what sets Teardown apart. The voxel engine simulates realistic physics, including the behavior of debris, fire, smoke, and water. Knocking out a structural pillar might cause an entire building to collapse, and clever players can use this destruction to create unexpected solutions—for example, dropping an entire house into a river to complete a destruction objective.

Beyond the Heist

Beyond the campaign's 40+ escalating missions, Teardown offers significant replayability:

  • Sandbox Mode: Here, players have unlimited resources and freedom to use every unlocked tool and vehicle to simply experiment with the physics and destruction—the perfect stress-relief zone.

  • Challenges: Specific game modes with unique rules and toolsets that test the player's mastery of the game’s systems.

  • Modding: The game features extensive mod support, allowing the community to create and share new maps, tools, and even custom campaigns, dramatically extending the game’s lifetime.

Teardown is not just a game about destruction; it's a strategic puzzle where demolition is the ultimate tool for problem-solving.
